Diplomatic Corps and Dancers Celebrate "International Dance Day" in Kowloon City "Dance for Life and Peace" Showcases Hong Kong’s Vibrant Multicultural Artistic Strength

In alignment with the mission of the International Dance Council (CID, UNESCO), the "Hong Kong International Dance Day 2026 — Dance for Life and Peace," organized by Nefertiti Egyptian and Middle Eastern Dance School ("Dance Nefertiti"), concluded successfully on April 17 at Kowloon City Plaza. The event brought together diplomats, academic leaders, and local students in a district steeped in history, using dance as a universal language to promote cultural inclusiveness and peaceful coexistence.

Consul General of Egypt Officiates the Peace Dance Ceremony

The event was graced by the presence of H.E. Mr. Baher Farouk Ahmed Sheweikhi, Consul General of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Hong Kong and Macau, and Mr. Anas Shadi, Deputy Consul General, as Guests of Honour. Led by Ms. May KT Cheung, Founder of Dance Nefertiti and member of CID (UNESCO), the officiating guests performed the opening ceremony, symbolizing the convergence of cultural forces in Hong Kong.

During the ceremony, the Consul General of Egypt joined Ms. Cheung in presenting CID-validated international certificates to outstanding students of Dance Nefertiti, recognizing their achievements and dedication to promoting ethnic dance arts in a heartwarming atmosphere.

A Convergence of Cross-Cultural Arts: Embodying "Dance is One"

The event showcased a diverse array of dance styles, ranging from the exotic rhythms of Egyptian folk dance to energetic school performances, embodying the CID philosophy that "Dance is One." Highlights included "Bamboty," a dance depicting the resilience of Egyptian sailors, and "Balady," which radiates the vitality of the earth. The program also featured high-energy Indian Bollywood dance. Additionally, students from the Po Leung Kuk Riverain Primary School Chinese Dance Team participated with vibrant choreography, demonstrating that dance is an art form that transcends both age and genre.

While we celebrate life, we do not forget those elsewhere who are deprived of the freedom to dance. This is not just a performance; it is a gentle yet firm urban narrative."

以「為生命與和平共舞」為名 展現香港多元文化藝術力量

為響應聯合國教科文組織（UNESCO）國際舞蹈委員會（CID）的使命，由 Nefertiti埃及及中東舞蹈學校 (“Dance Nefertiti”) 主辦的「2026 香港國際舞蹈日 — 為生命與和平共舞」已於 4 月 17 日在九龍城廣場圓滿落幕。是次活動匯聚了外交官、學術界領袖及本地學童，在充滿歷史氣息的社區中，以舞蹈作為共同語言，向大眾傳遞文化包容與和平共存的訊息。

埃及總領事親臨主禮 共同啟動和平之舞

活動當天邀得 埃及駐港澳總領事 H.E. Baher Farouk Ahmed Sheweikhi 閣下 以及 副總領事 Mr. Anas Shadi 先生 親臨主禮。在主辦機構 Dance Nefertiti張潔婷小姐 (May KT) 的帶領下，一眾主禮嘉賓完成活動啟動儀式，象徵著文化力量在香港匯聚。

埃及駐港總領事更特別在儀式上，與張潔婷小姐一同頒發由國際舞蹈委員會認證的年度證書予Dance Nefertiti的優秀學員，肯定了學員在推廣民族舞蹈藝術上的努力與成就。

活動當日展現了多元化的舞蹈藝術，從富有中東風情的埃及民族舞蹈，到充滿活力的校園表演，完美實踐了 CID「舞蹈是唯一」的崇高理念。演出亮點包括描繪埃及水手韌性的 「Bamboty」 及散發大地生命力的 「Balady」 舞蹈；同時亦有節奏明快的 印度寶萊塢舞蹈 (Bollywood)。此外，保良局雨川小學中國舞蹈隊 的學童亦以充滿朝氣的舞步參與其中，體現了舞蹈是不分年齡、不分種類的純粹藝術。
